BIO

As your postpartum doula I will help you gain secure ground in new territory, and confidence for the road forward. I began supporting new families decades ago, before I even knew what a doula was. After birthing my own baby, I was on the receiving end of invaluable help and guidance in the early days. Now that my daughter is thriving in her adult life, I have returned to the only work that makes sense — lending a hand and heart to parents just beginning on the path.

As your life shifts into a new normal you deserve to be held by the community and supported by a team of trusted professionals. I see myself filling the role of ideal auntie or grandmother, sharing experience and pragmatic wisdom, with your family’s best interests at heart.

During this time of full-immersion caregiving, I will support you in feeling cared for. You deserve to have someone anticipate your needs and respond with kindness.

During this time of overwhelm, I will support you in feeling room to breathe

During this time of constant change, I will support you in feeling acceptance of where you are right now. Take comfort in knowing that bodies heal, babies grow, and families adapt in their own time.

During this time of steep learning curves, I will support you in feeling confident as a parent. As you become more attuned to your baby’s non-verbal language you will trust yourself to respond with a clear sense of what they need at that moment.

My ongoing anchor in life is the Big Mother. Lately I’ve been able to recharge to my heart’s content in the forest, by the river, or at the ocean—ideally all three. (Thank you, Oregon coastal forest!) Being alone in nature is essential for my mental and physical health, and for my spirit. As my mind settles I see the beauty and rightness of things just as they are, in constant motion. I find solace, ground, trust, connection, and rejuvenation. I like to think these qualities travel with me when I show up to support you.

Specialized Offerings

Infant Massage Instruction

Sharing touch and focused interaction with your baby facilitates growth and development at all levels. It promotes sleep and strengthens the bond between baby and caregivers. An infant massage routine provides relaxation for both you and your baby, and it can be incorporated into your baby's care at any age.

Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio Philosophy

As a student and practitioner of Jin Shin Jyutsu acupressure for nearly forty years, I have an understanding of the ways in which body, mind, energy, and emotions affect each other. I can show you how this simple healing art is applied, in a non-invasive hands-on way, to yourself or your family. It doesn’t matter if you have thirty seconds or thirty minutes, utilizing Jin Shin Jyutsu will harmonize, energize, and give your body a chance to find its balance.

Testimonials

Patrice brought such a sweet and caring presence into our home. She was gentle, knowledgeable, and tender. We truly could not have asked for a better person to support us through our first night home as new parents. We feel lucky to know that Patrice is in our corner and available in the future should we require more amazing postpartum care.—Parker and Steven and baby Phoenix

I looked forward to every time Patrice came. She was amazing with my baby. Her warmth comes through in every care-giving moment and she really took time to get to know him. When I was nursing him, she moved laundry along, cleaned and organized, and made sure I was fed and hydrated. When she left I always felt like I had accomplished a lot.

Patrice also comes with decades of knowledge of RIE (Resources for Infant Educarors), a parenting style to which I subscribe, which was a huge bonus for me. She slows to the pace of the baby, truly observes him, and notices all that he could do from the very start.

One thing I so appreciated is that she helped me organize!! She’s got an amazing knack for that, and since she knows babies so well and I did not, I so appreciated her ability to organize all the different types of baby stuff. For example, all the clothes and changing table area, the bottle stuff, and the breast pump stuff. She even created a system for sorting through clothes that were too small, just right for now, and would fit in the future. She was instrumental in my transition to motherhood. I can’t imagine having done that without her guidance.—Joanna C. and baby Silas

Patrice taught me infant massage which is extremely valuable in bonding with my baby, as well as bonding with his older sibling. Her caring and loving presence and her listening ear helped me find solutions to infant care and feeding issues. She is so loving and gentle . . . — Rebecca K.

Thanks to Patrice’s organizational help, coupled with her calm, reassuring demeanor, we were able to focus on each of our newbies, knowing that everything else was taken care of. Her natural calling to ensure that a baby’s entry into the world and family occurs with the reverence and harmony it deserves, meant that we received tremendous emotional and practical support during and following the births of our biological children as well as with our adoptions. — Lee M.

Patrice is a breath of Hawaiian fresh air on a gritty east wind day! She is instantly calming and brings you to ease. My little girl was immediately comfortable with her. Patrice was successful at bottle feeding and napping after previous issues. She has a nature that seems to inspire my little girl to go with the flow and this is such a remarkable turn from other family caregivers who reported crying and discomfort when I wasn’t there. Patrice made this bearable for a first-time mom. I highly recommend her and will hate to lose her when baby Marie outgrows her services! I hope to stay in touch with her as my girl transitions. Patrice is amazing!! — Courtney C.
