We're Stronger Together
A career as a doula is some of the most rewarding work you'll ever do, but there are challenges unique to birth work that we feel are best addressed within a supportive community. Brave Birth believes in supporting the doula's profession, her family life, and her spirit, and we accomplish this by encouraging each doula to create a meaningful business that accommodates other important aspects of her life. Our Brave Birth community fosters sustainability, satisfaction, and success by promoting, mentoring, and inspiring our doulas.
Our Membership Model
Unlike agencies that employ doulas as independent contractors and retain part of each birth or postpartum fee, Brave Birth is based solely on membership and there is a flat monthly fee that the doula pays to maintain membership. With this model, each doula adheres to Brave Birth's professional requirements, values, and ethics, but she runs her own business and prefers the autonomy of self-employment. We feel that this model offers the best of both worlds: the freedom and flexibility to create your own business while reaping all the benefits of a well-established and well-respected community of birth workers dedicated to supporting one another.
Continuing Education For Doulas
We offer a variety of workshops and classes for doulas interested in continuing their education, learning self-care techniques, and/or creating community with other doulas. Check out our Calendar and Class Descriptions for upcoming classes designed specifically for doulas. Are you looking for a trusted doula mentor? Someone you can regularly turn to for insider guidance, information, encouragement, and wisdom?
