Restorative Yoga is a rest based practice that can help release tension and stress. Poses are held for 3-15 minutes and are supported by blankets, bolsters, blocks and hot water bottles. The poses held for a long period of time with extra support, aid in activating the parasympathetic nervous system to promote a deep sense of calm and rejuvenation in the body and mind. The benefits of restorative yoga are many, including improved sleep, less mind-chatter and a healthier functioning digestive system. The class is for all levels of yoga experience and all practitioners (not just the pregnant folks) and can be especially helpful during the postpartum period when sleep may be a fond memory.
