Pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding are normal and healthy and beautiful and awesome – but that doesn't mean they are easy. You should be given as much information, physical support, and emotional support as you need to help you find what works best for you.
I believe that birth and early parenthood experiences influence how we feel about ourselves and how we parent, which has a far-reaching impact on our society. As your doula or childbirth educator, I aim to provide a safe space to talk, customized tips, and evidence-based information. I see my role as an open-minded support person to you and your partner while you are forging through this vulnerable and transformative time. You already have your coping styles and tools within you – I am there to help you tap into them when you need them most. During the twists and turns of labor, that might include assisting you and your partner with comfort techniques (positioning, movement, and touch), information (interpreting your options), reassurance (normalizing or framing what is happening), and hopefully some humor and laughter (if you’re into that). During your postpartum experience, that might include helping you adjust to your new normal by holding baby while you shower, helping you master your baby carriers, or providing recommendations for local resources.
I want you to feel like the strong and amazing human that you are when you reflect on your unique story. It is my wish that you find your journey to be as empowering and joyful as possible, and I would be honored to be a part of your team.
My obsession with all things pregnancy, birth, and postpartum started long before I considered becoming a parent, and upon becoming a mother I learned that my passion was not satiated by my own experience but ignited by it! Originally from sunny Colorado, I came to Portland on a whim in 2007. Prior to birth work, I was a trainer and project manager at a staffing firm, a psychometrician at a forensic psychology practice, and a bartender. I live in Southwest Portland with my hilarious husband Ross, our daughter Marlowe, and our cuddly cat Mable. If I have spare time, you might find me listening to podcasts about true crime, talking about placentas, enjoying the amazing food at local eateries, tackling heaps of laundry, or strolling the aisles of Target like I’m made of money.
Our partnership model:
I work in a doula partnership with Alicia Edeline. Hiring one doula means hiring both of us and receiving the benefits of a doula team. These benefits include two unique sets of knowledge, experience, and styles, constant doula support in the event of an extended labor, and continuity of care (built-in back-up if one of us is not available). You get two doulas for the price of one, and visits with us are always a fun time!

SEND ME A NOTE:
"I decided at the last minute to hire a doula and am so glad that a friend recommended Bri. She is caring, warm, genuine and very intuitive. Bri picked up on things I said in our initial consultation and used them beautifully during the birthing process. She was always present but never intrusive. Bri was a huge support to me, and my partner. I had the peace of mind that I could focus on myself and my body and that Bri would take care of the rest. To top it off she has a great sense of humor! I truly can't imagine going through this process without Bri's support."
“Bri was a pleasure to have as my doula during my pregnancy, during labor and postpartum. I was so glad to have her there to help and support me during this wonderful experience. I couldn’t have asked for a better doula! She is very calming and supportive and non-judgmental. She is very informative, and I couldn’t have gone through this experience without her. I will definitely ask for her again when we decide to have another baby.”
