Atika is a postpartum doula. As the daughter of a midwife, some of her first memories are of babies making their way into the world. She enjoys cultivating safe space for women and their partners as their family expands to welcome another member. Atika has always been drawn to working with people and finds her best self when helping others. She is genuine and curious, always wanting to support families in ways that are authentic and meaningful.
Atika was also trained as an artist and earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts in photography and book arts at Oregon College of Art and Craft. Her work is an extension of this orientation, combining an attention to detail and an appreciation of the beauty of life in all its forms, from the mundane to the transcendent.
She is the mother of two amazing boys who do a great job of keeping her on her toes. When not working, she can be found at the climbing gym, practicing the ukulele, or adventuring with her family through the many parks and puddles in Portland.
Postpartum Doula fee: day $37/hour (4 hour minimum)
night $35/hour (8 hour minimum)
SEND ME A NOTE:
Atika is a rare gem. She is sincerely compassionate, generous and self-sacrificing, delightfully warm yet appropriately practical, and reliably hilarious. And that's not even a complete list. All of this combined with her complete comfort with the birth process, advocacy and accompaniment, as well as her competency as a skilled doula, made her the most wonderful addition to our birth team. We can't recommend her highly enough.

I am so happy I invited Atika to my birth. She instinctively knows what a laboring mom needs and how those needs change. Her years of experience attending births in the Portland area means she knows many of the midwives and staff through the city. When I needed her to advocate for me, she spoke as a colleague. Her words had more weight than a stranger's, and my experience was better because Atika was with me.

My husband and I were referred to Atika by friends when we were seeking a doula with our first baby. Atika was very engaging and really personalized our needs. I was not sure what to expect on 'the big day', but when it finally came, Atika came by during the day to offer support and then met us at the hospital (in a SNOWSTORM/ICESTORM) hours later at the hospital. I CANNOT begin to explain to anyone how invaluable she was during the birth. She was right with me and when I felt like I couldn't take it anymore, she encouraged me. II squeezed her hand throughout and she gave me amazing massages and helped me relax between contractions. 'll never forget how good it felt to have my pain, exhaustion, and glorious emotions validated by her her before, during and after the birth. Her post partum support was extremely helpful. I cannot recommend this woman enough. Thank you ATIKA!
