As a birth and postpartum doula, I provide physical, informational, emotional and spiritual support in a thoughtful and compassionate manner to each phase of the process. Pregnancy, birth and the transition to parenthood can be unpredictable, twisting and turning in many directions and this can at times feel overwhelming. With the right doula by your side, you and/or your partner will not be in it alone. My passion is in providing support, meeting you where you are and simply being a companion to where you are headed in your pregnancy journey. My wish for you throughout your unique birth and childbearing experience is that you find the strength, courage, confidence and intuition within yourself and carry it forward, wherever life may lead.
All of your life experiences have brought you to this moment in time. These experiences may influence how you are feeling about your pregnancy, birth, specific needs and type of support you desire. Through prenatal planning and our discussions, we will discover what you and/or your partner may need and how I can best support you through this transformative life event. I am experienced in comfort touch, optimal fetal positioning, rebozo, mindfulness, homebirth, highly medical/high risk pregnancy, hospital birth, home birth, water birth, VBAC and more. This is your journey, this path belongs to you to walk, to choose, to learn and to grow.
Born and raised in a small town in the Sierra Foothills of Northern California, the importance of family and community were instilled in me at an early age. Although, my life path didn’t immediately lead me to birth work, I studied linguistics and German in Chico, CA before making my move to the “big city” landing a job in business management as an accounting manager. With the variety of experiences over the years, it became clear to me my heart had a deeper desire to serve others and becoming a doula has provided just that, I have finally found my true calling. In my free time, I enjoy adventuring with my two dogs, Scout and Remington, and spending quality time with my husband, Kevin.
Our Partnership Model:
I work in a doula partnership with Bri Dewey. Hiring one doula means hiring both of us and receiving the benefits of a doula team. These benefits include two unique sets of knowledge, experience, and styles, constant doula support in the event of an extended labor, and continuity of care (built-in back-up if one of us is not available). You get two doulas for the price of one, and visits with us are always a fun time!

"I had a homebirth delivering my first baby this spring. It was a great match because this was also Alicia’s first time attending and assisting a homebirth. I had never used doula services before and we decided last minute to add her to our birth team. I was uncertain about finding someone who’s personality fit and also shared some of the same beliefs about birth we did but Alicia was great! From the beginning she was very confident and knowledgeable and helped answer all of our questions and direct us through the remainder of my pregnancy and birth process. I felt like she was genuine in her passion for becoming a doula and it really showed when it was game time. Because my labor was fairly quick I wasn’t able to contact Alicia until I was well into active labor. I remember laying down by myself trying to get through some pretty intense contractions and in that moment I realized “I need a doula!” I needed something that my family and close loved ones couldn’t provide. I can’t quite put my finger on it, it’s something of the feminine energy and emotional support that Alicia provided. It was in that moment I barely typed out a text message to her “I need you now!” It was all I could manage and she was there quickly, was polite and professional and jumped in right away as if she had been doing this for years! She is a true natural and I would recommend Alicia to any family especially those who are having a home birth. I felt emotionally safe, and I am confident Alicia can perform above and beyond in her practice. Thank you for being available any time of day and giving me the support I needed as a new mother. Alicia will be a true diamond to add to any birth team and a great employee to hire as she also has excellent communication and people skills. She worked well with the rest of my birth team including my midwife and attending midwife. Her passion and compassion will take her far in this industry."

"My experience with Alicia was beautiful. Although I didn’t find out about Mother Tree until very late in my pregnancy it was just enough time for Alicia to take absolute care of me and my baby Jream. I went into labor around 3:30AM Sunday morning and I didn’t have my baby until 7:31AM Monday morning, Alicia never left my side. She was there to make sure I was comfortable, confident and that I could do this. I really needed that, especially with this being my first pregnancy. She was a real blessing to me and my family and I will be forever grateful."

"We were connected to Alicia by a Mom's Facebook Group and I am convinced that our relationship was meant to be. Not only was Alicia professional from the very start, but she was warm, caring, and you could tell she not only loved what she was doing, but that she had already started loving our family as well. During our first two meetings she asked all of the right questions, she brought my husband into the conversation rather just focusing on me, and her positivity was contagious. On the day of my delivery, Alicia showed up prepared, bright eyed and ready to go. She remained a calm and loving presence during the whole labor and delivery process and I really felt that she was 100% committed to making our experience the best and most amazing as possible. Her presences was felt, but not overwhelming and oh so supportive. After the baby was born, Alicia was so wonderful, she made sure that we were settled, said hello to the new baby and left my husband and I to bond with our little one. I honestly was sad to see her go. A few days after we were home and settled Alicia reached out to make sure we were settling in okay and came by the house for one last follow up visit. If you are looking for a calm, confident, professional and above all caring doula for your birth experience I highly recommend using Alicia."

"Alicia has been an amazing doula to work with. This is my first pregnancy and I knew I really wanted to have a doula there to support me during my birthing experience. Alicia has exceeded all of my expectations and I'm so glad that she was there to help me through these challenging and wonderful new experiences of motherhood. She has been supportive and very informative throughout my pregnancy, labor and postpartum journey and has never been judgmental or biased on any of my decisions. When we decide to have another baby, I would definitely want to have Alicia along for the ride again!"
