Tension Releasing Exercises (TRE®)-- Part Three

Tension Releasing Exercises (TRE®)-- Part Three

Are you feeling overwhelmed, wound up, anxious, or have a hard time
relaxing? Looking for ways to reduce the impact of stress on your
physical and emotional health? Join Sarah Lax, midwife and owner of
Beginnings Whole Body Nourishment, for an Introduction to Tension
Releasing Exercises (TRE®). TRE is an innovative approach to help
people release patterns of deep muscular tension that are caused by
everyday life demands, immediate or prolonged stress, or traumatic
life experiences. Using a set of simple and easy to learn exercises,
TRE accesses and releases tension in the muscles, which then sends a
message of safety and relaxation to nervous system and the brain.

During this 3 class series, you will learn the basics of TRE to launch
you into a home practice.

If pregnant, please contact Sarah directly to discuss limitations of TRE in pregnancy.

Price $65-85 sliding scale for the series.

Mindful Nest- week one

Week One: Building your Nest!
Creating space in your home and heart during pregnancy

In preparing for the arrival of the babe, often you hear about nesting in your home, but what about nesting in your body?  This class will offer tools for the whole family.  Learn how to navigate new household challenges and joys, while staying connected to yourself and your partner.

Mindfulness is described as maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations and surrounding environment in a non-judgemental manner. How might you find that practice helpful during pregnancy, labor & delivery and once your is child here?

In this four week series we will explore different mindfulness techniques that feel approachable to each family member's individual learning style and level of comfort.  These techniques are meant to be explored/practiced by the whole family vs only giving perspective to/from the birthing person.

These classes include a mix of lecture, discussion, media, movement and relaxation techniques. It is ideal for anyone who is either birthing or supporting the labor of a loved one.  Comfortable clothing is encouraged.  No childcare is available for this series.

$175 per Brave Birth Families & $200 for community Families FOR THE SERIES

Restorative Yoga 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Restorative Yoga is a rest based practice that can help release tension and stress. Poses are held for 3-15 minutes and are supported by blankets, bolsters, blocks and hot water bottles. The poses held for a long period of time with extra support, aid in activating the parasympathetic nervous system to promote a deep sense of calm and rejuvenation in the body and mind. The benefits of restorative yoga are many, including improved sleep, less mind-chatter and a healthier functioning digestive system. The class is for all levels of yoga experience and all practitioners (not just the pregnant folks) and can be especially helpful during the postpartum period when sleep may be a fond memory.

Brave Chestfeeding/Breastfeeding

Surprisingly, about three quarters of postpartum families have breastfeeding/chestfeeding challenges. This three hour course will discuss the basics of breastfeeding/chestfeeding, nursing positions, the early days of breastfeeding/chestfeeding, breast/chest pumps, pumping for your baby, and more. The breastfeeding/chestfeeding relationship between a family and their child is an experience to be treasured. Join us and bring your questions, concerns, and curiosities around breastfeeding/chestfeeding and we will explore how to navigate the sometimes tricky postpartum world of feeding your baby.

Please bring a baby-sized doll/stuffed animal to class, thank you!
